El-Shaddai Church History

On May 18, 1997 (the Day of Pentecost) El-Shaddai Pentecostal Church of Christ was established in Memphis, Tennessee.  The service commenced at 9:00 a.m. in the home of Bishop and Elder Woodson with the saints on their knees “Praying for Pentecost” and for God’s blessings upon the newly founded ministry.  The service lasted for approximately 3 hours.  The sermon brought by the Pastor followed with altar call and benediction.  For a little over a year in his home, Bishop Woodson ministered to the needs of the saints who saw and were seeking his vision for the up-building of the Kingdom.

As membership grew, Bishop Woodson realized that it was now time to seek the Lord to provide a larger edifice for the El-Shaddai family to worship.  It would seem that this would be a large task for a small newly established congregation with no financial credit history. However, the favor of God was upon this man and his ministry and therefore he found grace with those he sought to do business with.  On November 22, 1998, the new edifice, at 3977 Willowview Avenue, of El-Shaddai Pentecostal Church of Christ was officially dedicated for the service of God and on Friday, October 17, 2003 the saints of El-Shaddai celebrated the liquidation and burning of the mortgage.
